July 10, 2009 Sharing another original design

I would like to share my latest dishcloth design.



Up, Up and Away Dishcloth

Materials
Worsted weight cotton yarn
Size 6 or 7 needles (your preference)

Special Abbreviations

Sl2 wyif: Slip 2 stitches holding yarn in front of work
Sl2 wyib: Slip 2 stitches holding yarn in back of work
Dbl yo: Wrap yarn around right needle two times

Pattern = 6 + 4 stitches

Cast on 46 stitches (or number required to achieve the size cloth you want)

Knit 1 row (RS)

Row 1: K1, *Sl2 wyif, K4* repeat from * to last 3 sts, Sl2, K1.

Row 2: K1, * Sl2, wyib, K4 * repeat from * to last 3 sts, Sl2, K1.

Row 3: Repeat row 1

Row 4: Repeat row 2

Row 5: K2, yo, K2tog, * K2, K2tog, Dbl yo, K2tog * repeat from * to last 6 sts, K2,
K2tog, yo, K2.

Row 6: K8, P1, * K5, P1 * repeat from * to last 7 sts, K7.

Row 7: K4, * Sl2 wyif, K4 * Repeat from * to end

Row 8: K4, * Sl2 wyib, K4 * Repeat from * to end

Row 9: Repeat row 7

Row 10: Repeat row 8

Row 11: K3, K2tog, Dbl yo, K2tog, * K2, K2tog, Dbl yo, K2tog * repeat from * to last 3
sts, K3.

Row 12: * K5, P1 * repeat from * to last 4 sts, K4.

Repeat these 12 rows 7 times or to desired length. On the last repeat, stop pattern on row 11 then bind off knit wise.
You can also knit this in two colors to give it a different look by alternating colors as follows – Knit row and row 1 – color A, rows 2 thru 5 color B, rows 6 & 7 color A, rows 8 thru 11 color B, then rows 12 & 1 color A.
